Mi Corazón – My Heart
The photographs for this book were made in Colombia in 2008.
From media reports, Colombia is known as a country that is determined by drug trafficking, organized crime, poverty and by serious human rights violations through illegal violent groups, as well as through the police and the military.
For 6 weeks Kim Asendorf and I traveled through the country with a backpack and, while not speaking the language, we have approached on a visual level.
This book shows Colombia as a country where urban elements, facades, public places, vehicles, people and animals flow into one another and become one. Public structures become public sculptures.
Social patterns, thought patterns, behavior patterns are emerging. Situations become objects.
Extracts, moments take shape, sometimes for a short term only. They are an expression and medium of time and culture.
Scenes are created, mostly deserted, every now and then someone is seen. There is a silence, you feel the loneliness – the longing – the hope.

Aus Medienberichten kennt man Kolumbien als ein Land, das bestimmt ist von Drogenhandel, organisierter Kriminalität, Armut und von erheblichen Menschenrechtsverletzungen durch illegale Gewaltgruppen, ebenso wie durch die Polizei und das Militär.
6 Wochen sind Kim Asendorf und ich mit dem Rucksack durch das Land gereist und haben uns diesem, der Sprache nicht mächtig, auf visueller Ebene genähert.
Dieses Buch zeigt Kolumbien als ein Land, in dem urbane Elemente, Fassaden, Plätze, Fahrzeuge, Menschen und Tiere ineinanderfließen und eins werden. Öffentliche Strukturen werden zu öffentlichen Skulpturen.
Gesellschaftliche Muster, Denkmuster, Handlungsmuster zeichnen sich ab. Situationen werden zu Objekten. Ausschnitte, Augenblicke formen sich, manchmal nur für einen Moment. Sie werden zum Ausdruck und Medium von Zeit und Kultur.
Es entstehen Kulissen, zumeist menschenleer, hin und wieder ist jemand zu sehen. Es herrscht eine Stille, man spürt die Einsamkeit – die Sehnsucht – die Hoffnung.
