"Every week a new world" [2008]
Just because of being paranoid, it doesn`t mean, that they don`t follow you.
In this book I portray a person, which stands on the border between reality and fiction.
Paranoia or realization? Reality or fiction? Where is the border? Does a border exist?
My idea was to connect the themes paranoia and monitoring with photographs, textes and newspaper reports in a way that there`s no clear seperation.
All photographs are arose for this book. Black and white photographs suggest monitoring and spying.
The thoughts, the paranoia are shown in more surreal pictures. The nakedness of the person is symbol for the helplessness.
"Spy scandal rockt Deutsche Telekom", "Stasi techniques at Lidl", "BKA - housing monitoring with cameras and bugs", "Monitored around the clock"...
Monitoring and spying became a central theme of our society. In department stores are no longer just customers monitored with cameras, but increasingly there are also employees monitored with mini-cameras and detectives. Food and drink habits, cigarette consumption, illnesses, personal and financial problems are recorded, so that they can exert pressure on critical contributors.
Lidl, Plus, Burgerking, Deutsche Telekom, BKA, Schlecker, Tegut, Ikea...
The list of spying has no end.
A paranoid person has the conviction that they had conspired against her, a paranoid person fears to loose life.
